MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Nick Chubb didn’t have a great start to the Liberty Bowl, but it was still record-breaking.

Chubb entered the game needing four yards to pass Todd Gurley for second on Georgia’s all-time rushing list. Chubb got it on his second carry, a two-yard carry.

Gurley, a teammate of Chubb’s in 2014, amassed 3,285 rushing yards in three years, behind only the great Herschel Walker. Even though Chubb has decided to return for his senior year, he’ll still have a ways to go to catch Walker, who had 5,259 rushing yards, also an SEC record.

Chubb also entered the game needing 12 yards to reach 1,000 for the season. That too awhile longer, until late in the second quarter, when a 7-yard carry put him over the mark.
