Justin Fields (Harrison H.S./Kennesaw, Ga.) answered a few questions about the state of his college decision Wednesday night.

Fields, the nation’s No. 1 overall prospect per the 247Sports composite, spoke with 680 The Fan on its weekly The Official Visit recruiting program.

The topic of a recruiting timeline came up. Rusty Mansell of 247Sports, who conducted the interview, even broached the specifics of a possible September decision for the 5-star quarterback.

“I don’t really have a time frame on when I’m going to make a decision,” Fields said. “My plan was to watch a little bit of the season just to see how the teams start out. To kind of see what they are doing on offense. That was my idea but I don’t really have a set time frame on when I am going to commit.”

That still meshes with what Fields told DawgNation last month prior to his senior season.

Fields will start his evaluation by watching Alabama-Florida State play Saturday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Saturday. This decision eventually should come down to Florida State and Georgia, though Auburn is still in the picture to some extent.

Fields said he’s not looking for anything to happen on a specific schedule.

“I’m not going to tell everybody that I am committing this day or this day,” Fields said.

It is just going to happen.

On Wednesday, Fields also praised the efforts of Rome 4-star defensive end/outside linebacker Adam Anderson for the way he played when their teams met last Friday night.

“When Adam is on the field, you feel him,” Fields said. “Just his presence. He’s a long, athletic kid. Very fast. He’s faster than I thought he was. So it was definitely hard playing him. Just knowing where he is on the field. You really can’t miss him. Just kind of adjusting the game plan to try to beat their defense was definitely hard.”
