Every quarterback needs a trustworthy receiver, and that is something Georgia has figured out in its pursuit of 5-star quarterback Justin Fields.

Fields’ go-to guy at Harrison High School in Kennesaw, Ga., is Steven Peterson, who spent the weekend alongside Fields in Athens as the duo took a visit to see the Bulldogs. Peterson, per UGASports.com, received some good news during his trip.

“Yeah, I received that [preferred walk-on offer] this past weekend,” Peterson said.

Peterson is a lot better than just a throwaway offer though, DawgNation.com’s Jeff Sentell notes. In just two games, the senior has caught 9 passes for 226 yards and 4 touchdowns.

“Kirby [Smart] asked me a little bit about myself and stuff like that. Then, he said they only had a few preferred walk-on spots but he would love to offer me one. He said that if nothing else really worked out that they would love to be the fallback plan. He compared me to Hunter Renfrow and the things he did at Clemson. He thinks I could be one of those guys if I felt it was where I wanted to go.”

If the duo ends up in Athens, Fields will have a target that he is extremely comfortable with. That could spell trouble for SEC defenses.
