Georgia baseball team stumbles again against Florida
The Georgia baseball team couldn’t slow down Florida’s run through the SEC on Saturday as the Gators clinched the conference’s regular-season title with a 9-3 win.
Florida improved to 41-11 overall and 20-6 in the SEC with its second straight win over Georgia. The Bulldogs dropped to 34-16 and 15-11 in the league.
The two teams wrap up their series at 1 p.m. ET Sunday in Gainesville, Fla.
The Gators hit four 4 home runs, including a grand slam by Blake Reese that broke the game open in the sixth inning. Florida’s Jackson Kowar pitched seven innings and allowed 1 unearned run while striking out 9 to improve to 9-2.
Georgia freshman Emerson Hancock allowed 8 runs on 9 hits in five innings and his record dropped to 6-3. Keegan McGovern, Michael Curry and Cam Shepherd led the Bulldogs offense with 2 hits each.
