The Georgia baseball team routed Georgia Tech 8-3 on Wednesday night in Atlanta for its fifth straight win in the series.

That is the Bulldogs’ longest winning streak in the series since 1987 and clinches the season series for the second straight year. Georgia scored 3 runs in the sixth inning and 3 more in the eighth to put Georgia Tech away.

Georgia improves to 28-13, while Georgia Tech falls to 22-20.

Aaron Schunk: Schunk had 4 hits in 5 at-bats, drove in a run and had an RBI.

LJ Talley: Talley had had 2 hits — including a home run — and 3 RBI.

Tucker Maxwell: Maxwell also homered, had 2 hits, drove in 2 and scored a run.

On a roll: Georgia had its offense going, rolling up 14 hits with five players getting at least 2 hits.

Armed and ready: Georgia’s first three pitchers  — C.J. Smith, Zac Kristofak and Kevin Smith — allowed 2 runs in 8 innings of work. Kristofak got the win.
