Sony Michel or Derrius Guice? FOX Sports’ Joel Klatt reveals pick before 2018 NFL Draft

FOX Sports analyst Joel Klatt delivered high praise for former Georgia running back Sony Michel when breaking down the player in comparison to former LSU running back Derrius Guice.
Michel and Guice are preparing for the 2018 NFL Draft, which begins Thursday and runs through Saturday. In speaking to WJOX 94.5 FM on Wednesday, Klatt said he would take Michel over Guice if forced to pick between the two during the NFL draft.
“Of those two guys, I would go with Michel,” Klatt said in the radio appearance. “There’s just something about him. Not that I don’t like Guice, because I think he’s a really, really good player, and I think he’s going to have a chance to be a main contributor — if not one of the main contributors — out of this class in his rookie season.
“But there’s just something about Michel. I love his vision, that competitive spirit and what he brings to the table. If I were making the decision between the two, I would take Sony Michel.”
Both players figure to be high picks in the coming days. Guice had 3,074 yards rushing with 29 touchdowns from 2015-17. Michel produced 3,613 yards rushing with 33 touchdowns from 2014-17.
Michel, for his part, produced a standout season last year as Georgia won an SEC title, beat Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl and appeared in the National Championship Game against Alabama. He ran for a career-high 1,227 yards with 16 touchdowns in helping the Bulldogs finish 13-2 in Kirby Smart’s second campaign in Athens.
Choosing between Michel and Guice would be a good problem for an NFL general manager to have. But it’s worth noting that an expert like Klatt would give a slight edge to Michel in this instance.
