Justin Fields and Trevor Lawrence are two of the most heralded quarterback prospects in recent memory. Their college choices of Georgia and Clemson, respectively, seemingly should have sparked a rivalry between the pair.
But that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Fields posted a photo of him working out with Lawrence to his Instagram story on Monday morning:

The other handle in that photo belongs to Ron Veal, a former quarterback at Arizona in the 1990s and a current QB coach.
The pair grew up near each other in Georgia, with Fields in Kennesaw and Lawrence in Cartersville. According to 247Sports composite rankings, these were the top two players in the country in the 2018 class.
It’s possible Fields and Lawrence could end up facing off a few years down the line. Georgia and Clemson have talked about renewing their rivalry in the last few weeks, and could play as early as 2021.
“I do think down the road you will see Clemson and Georgia playing each other,” Georgia athletic director Greg McGarity said. “I’m not sure about the frequency of it, but I do think you’ll see us play each other in the not-too-distant future.”
If the evaluators were right, Fields and Lawrence will likely be off to the NFL before 2021. Perhaps a meeting in a College Football Playoff game would be more appropriate.
