Aaron Murray: Kirby Smart is better coach than James Franklin
Aaron Murray delivered an opinion that’s sure to make Georgia fans happy.
Speaking on CBS Sports Radio, the former Bulldogs quarterback dropped a take that Georgia’s Kirby Smart is a better coach than Penn State’s James Franklin. It’s an interesting opinion, for sure, especially when considering Franklin guided the Nittany Lions to a Big Ten Conference title and a Rose Bowl berth last season.
"I do, I do think he is a better coach." – @aaronmurray11 to @DAonCBS on if Kirby Smart is a better coach than James Franklin

Definitely, there’s the potential for Smart to be better than Franklin, who is 56-30 in his career as a coach at Vanderbilt and Penn State. But even the most passionate Bulldogs fans would have to admit that it’s a little early to say Smart is a better coach than Franklin, who has led his team to a 7-0 start this season, following an 8-5 record in his first season at Penn State. The Nittany Lions look like a threat to win the Big Ten once more.
Yes, Smart has been impressive with Georgia’s strong start this season. But we’ll see if he passes Franklin in time.
