ATHENS — Georgia wide receiver Demetris Robertson was a late scratch from the Red Team roster for G-Day and has been replaced by Kearis Jackson. The reason why was not immediately known.

The Red Team features the Bulldogs’ No. 1 offense and it was a significant development that Robertson, a junior from Savannah, had earned that spot. A former 5-star prospect and transfer from Cal, Robertson had been competing with the redshirt freshman Jackson for that position.

Asked about Robertson’s absence, UGA officials could not say why he was no longer in his lineup. Robertson was spotted at team functions in Athens on Friday.

Robertson is one of the most-anticipated players to watch in today’s spring scrimmage. He played in nine games last season after appealing for immediate eligibility following his transfer from Cal. But he failed to make a catch all season and finished with 109 rushing yards on four carries off jet-sweeps.

Georgia coach Kirby Smart will address Robertson’s absence after today’s game.
