This year, UGA will play in four of college football’s biggest games during the regular season, and the Bulldogs will go 3-1 in them, per College Football News’ Pete Fiutak.
The Bulldogs are predicted to win against Notre Dame, Florida, and Texas A&M.
Which team does CFN think will beat UGA in 2019?
None other than the Auburn Tigers. The website lists the Bulldogs as a 9-point favorite for the Nov. 16 game, but predicts Auburn will use the home-field advantage to pull off the 20-17 upset: “Auburn is not only getting nine (games) at home, but it has a week off before the showdown. The Bulldogs will be coming off of dates against Florida and Missouri.”
Auburn lost a lot of key defenders from last year’s team, but got a huge lift when defensive tackle Derrick Brown made the surprising decision to return for his senior season rather than go to the NFL. The Tigers will also have to find a new quarterback, and coach Gus Malzahn is back to calling plays for the offense. Auburn has an off-week to be prepare for this game, and they’ll be playing at home.
Notre Dame at UGA (Sept. 21): Per CFN, the Bulldogs will win 31-20. “Georgia is going to be fantastic enough to be deep in the mix for the College Football Playoff, and Notre Dame will be rebuilding a bit too much to go on a run like it did last season. The world is giving you 11.5, though. Take it, just because the Irish will be just strong enough to make this a game.”
Georgia is 2-0 all-time against Notre Dame, including the 1980 national championship game. This will be Notre Dame’s first-ever trip to Athens, Ga.
UGA vs. Florida (Nov. 2): Per CFN, UGA will edge Florida 27-20. “Georgia has owned this over the last two years, but the game hasn’t been close in a while, either way. The last time the Cocktail Party was decided by less than a touchdown was 2013 – a 23-20 Florida win – and seven of the last eight have been by four points or more. For now, Georgia is the play.”
Florida will need to find some stability at quarterback to have a chance at beating UGA. This game will likely decide the SEC East.
Texas A&M at UGA (Nov. 23). Per CFN, UGA will win 28-20: “Texas A&M is going to be terrific, but Georgia will be better. The Aggies could absolutely win this outright, but if the world is giving you almost two touchdowns, you say thank you, and go on your way.”
