With release of latest polls, Georgia-Notre Dame officially set as a top-10 matchup
So far, both Georgia and Notre Dame have held up their ends of the bargain. Both teams will enter the much-hyped week 4 game with unbeaten records and top-10 rankings.
The AP and Coaches Poll were both released on Sunday, and the Bulldogs held firm at No. 3 in both polls. The Bulldogs have not moved in the polls since the start of the season.
Notre Dame meanwhile enters the game ranked as the No. 7 team in the country. The Fighting Irish enter the game with a 2-0 record. Notre Dame beat New Mexico by the score of 66-14 on Saturday.
After the Georgia win over Arkansas State, Georgia coach Kirby Smart quickly turned his attention to the big next week.
“Notre Dame is a very good football program, they have a very good football program, they have a very good team, they have a very good coaching staff that does a tremendous job,” Smart said. They were one of the top four teams in the country last year.”
ESPN’s College GameDay will be in Athens this weekend for the game. The Georgia-Notre Dame is set for an 8 p.m. ET kickoff on CBS. These two teams met in 2017, with Georgia pulling off a 20-19 road win over the Fighting Irish.
In the Coaches Poll, Georgia is one of six SEC teams in the ranks. Five of the top 9 teams hail from the SEC, as Alabama is No. 2, LSU is No. 5, Florida is No. 8, Auburn is No. 9 and Texas A&M is No. 15. All of those teams won, but Florida saw quarterback Feleipe Franks leave the game with a serious injury.
Fro the AP Poll, those same six teams were all ranked as well. LSU is up to No. 4, Auburn is ranked No. 8, Florida is No. 9 and Texas A&M comes in at No. 17.
