3 things you should know

1. Florida brings one of the best defenses in the nation into Jacksonville. The Gators have the second-best scoring defense nationally, giving up an average of 12 points per game this season. They also hold the No. 2 spot in total defense, allowing just 252.5 yards per game.

2. There is plenty of familiarity between the Georgia and Florida coaching staffs. Georgia coach Kirby Smart and Florida coach Jim McElwain were both part of Nick Saban’s staff at Alabama from 2008 until McElwain’s departure to take the head coaching role at Colorado State in 2011. Florida offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier and defensive line coach Chris Rumph also coached with Smart at Alabama.

3. Florida has one of the best secondaries in the country, allowing just 132.8 yards per game, good enough for second-best nationally. To beat the Florida pass defense, Georgia will have to rely on true freshman quarterback Jacob Eason, who has 1,366 yards passing and nine touchdowns this season, and is coming off a career-high 346 yards passing against Vanderbilt. To be effective in it’s passing game, Georgia will need to look for favorable matchups, one of which might be slot receiver Isaiah McKenzie, who leads Bulldog receivers with 415 yards and five touchdowns.
