Concerts, events galore on tap for College Football Playoff National Championship Game
Thousands of fans will converge on Atlanta for the College Football Playoff National Championship Game on Monday, January 8, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, when semifinal winners Georgia and Alabama meet for the title. While we don’t know which team will lift the trophy, we do know that there’s plenty for fans to enjoy in the days leading up to the game.
Media Day and Playoff Fan Central
Media day is set for Saturday, Jan. 6 at Philips Arena, and Playoff Fan Central will run from Saturday through Monday, Jan. 8, from 10 a.m. ET to 6 p.m. each day at the Georgia World Congress Center.
Media day is free and open to the public. Fans are encouraged to attend and watch coaches and players from both teams answer questions from the throng of assembled media.
Organizers will provide earpieces to let fans listen in on interviews as players try to avoid providing any bulletin board material for their opponents.
Playoff Fan Central is an interactive experience that spans the entire weekend, featuring games, youth sports clinics and plenty of other things to get you in the football spirit.
The event last year in Tampa, Fla., featured throwing footballs through a bus window, kicking field goals and running a 40-yard dash in a mock scouting combine.
Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 at the door. Kids 12 and under are free with a ticketed adult.

They’ll get the chance to sample gourmet food and beverages from Atlanta’s most notable restaurants and breweries while celebrating our country’s teachers. Proceeds will support the College Football Playoff Foundation’s Extra Yard for Teachers platform.
General admission tickets are $250, while VIP passes are $350. For more on tickets, click here.
Championship Tailgate Plaza
For a more traditional gameday experience, fans can visit International Plaza for the Championship Tailgate Plaza on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
In addition to tailgating, fans will have the opportunity to zip line and try their hand at other outdoor activities.
Extra Yard 5K
If you overdo it at the Taste of the Championship or at International Plaza, the Extra Yard 5K might be a good way to burn a few calories.
It’s the official road race of the College Football Playoff and includes live entertainment and an awards ceremony after the race. Like the Taste of the Championship, proceeds will support the College Football Playoff Foundation’s Extra Yard for Teachers platform.
Registration includes two tickets to Playoff Fan Central, a T-shirt, finisher’s medal and an entry into the drawing for game tickets. In addition, the top overall male and female finishers will each win a pair of tickets to the College Football Playoff National Championship.
