Georgia football is the No. 1 topic every day on DawgNation Daily — the daily podcast for Georgia Bulldogs fans. Catch up on everything happening with UGA athletics with host Brandon Adams and the cast of DawgNation experts as they break down the latest Georgia football recruiting news and discuss UGA coach Kirby Smart’s quest to keep the Bulldogs on top of the SEC. On episode No. 680 (April 9, 2018) of the podcast, Georgia fans can hear a discussion about Kirby Smart’s assessment of Justin Fields.

Georgia football podcast: Kirby Smart offers positive assessment of Justin Fields

Beginning of the show: Georgia’s offense had some nice moments during the Bulldogs’ scrimmage Saturday, according to UGA coach Kirby Smart. Some of those moments apparently featured incoming freshman quarterback Justin Fields. That assessment of Fields seemingly is a rebuttal of the narrative that dominated the discussion last week — when it was said Fields had hit a bit of a freshman wall. I’ll talk more about what Smart had to say.

10-minute mark: A lot of UGA fans weren’t too happy with Patrick Reed’s Masters win. I’ll explain part of the reason why, and share some audio that many fans will enjoy — former UGA football player Bill Goldberg taking a dig at Georgia Tech during his WWE Hall of Fame acceptance speech.

15-minute mark: DawgNation insider Chip Towers joins the show. Some of the topics covered include:

  • Kirby Smart compliments Justin Fields
  • Kirby happy with UGA scrimmage?
  • Is UGA too thin along defensive line?
  • Smart says Georgia secondary has a long way to go
  • Freshman offensive lineman Trey Hill competing for starting job?
  • Thoughts on Goldberg being enshrined in WWE Hall of Fame

30-minute mark: I take a look at some other SEC headlines, including Auburn holding its spring game on Saturday, Ole Miss and Arkansas finishing up spring practice, Nick Saban updating the Alabama quarterback competition after scrimmage, a leader emerging for the LSU quarterback job, Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt pushing the Vols to be more physical, Smart praising wide receiver Terry Godwin, Georgia’s Gym Dawgs advancing to the NCAA Finals, UGA softball taking a series vs Missouri and the Diamond Dawgs dropping a series to Vanderbilt.

End of show: I update the Gator Hater Countdown and discuss 4-star offensive lineman Luke Griffin de-committing from UGA.
