Georgia football is the No. 1 topic every day on DawgNation Daily — the daily podcast for Georgia Bulldogs fans. Catch up on everything happening with UGA athletics with host Brandon Adams and the DawgNation experts as they break down the latest Georgia football recruiting news and discuss coach Kirby Smart’s quest to return the Bulldogs to the top of the SEC. On episode No. 1,237 (July 15, 2020) of the podcast, Georgia fans can hear a discussion about four-star signees Carson Beck and D’Wan Mathis factor into UGA’s suddenly crowded quarterback situation that also includes recent transfers Jamie Newman and JT Daniels — who was granted immediate eligibility by the NCAA this week.

Georgia football podcast: D’Wan Mathis, Carson Beck still major part of UGA QB story

Beginning of the show: Georgia got good news this week when former five-star quarterback — and recent transfer from USC — JT Daniels was granted immediate eligibility from the NCAA. Daniels enters a competition that also includes Jamie Newman, a graduate transfer from Wake Forest.

Much of the discussion about the Bulldogs’ quarterbacks this offseason has surrounded those two names. However, Daniels and Newman are far from the only UGA signal callers worthy of attention.

I’ll discuss on today’s show why D’Wan Mathis and Carson Beck — two former four-star signees — are both still a major part of the equation for the Bulldogs even though they’re less experienced than Daniels and Newman.

I’ll also discuss what two UGA players — defensive lineman Malik Herring and cornerback Eric Stokes — recently said about Mathis.

10-minute mark: I’ll address the latest chatter regarding how the coronavirus could impact the college football season.

15-minute mark: DawgNation’s Mike Griffith joins the show. Some of the topics covered include…

  • The fun interaction between UGA coach Kirby Smart and former Bulldogs coach Ray Goff on the DawgNation video channels this week
  • Reaction to Daniels being granted eligibility
  • And a look at what needs to happen for the season to take place based on the latest headlines
