Brandon Adams

Georgia football is the No. 1 topic every day on DawgNation Daily — the daily podcast for Georgia Bulldogs fans. Catch up on everything happening with UGA athletics with host Brandon Adams and the cast of DawgNation experts as they discuss UGA coach Kirby Smart’s quest to return the Bulldogs to the top of the SEC, and break down the latest Georgia football recruiting news. On episode No. 521 (Aug. 28, 2017) of the podcast, Georgia Bulldogs fans can hear a discussion about Georgia quarterback Jacob Eason.

Georgia football podcast: Jacob Eason has more doubters to silence

Beginning of the show: Former Georgia quarterback Fran Tarkenton gave pointed comments to DawgNation last week about why he believes UGA freshman quarterback Jake Fromm should play some this season in place of incumbent starter Jacob Eason. The Associated Press’ Ralph Russo also pegged the chances of Fromm replacing Eason by the end of the season at 25 percent. I’ll discuss what this criticism of Eason means for the second-year signal caller on the Monday show.

10-minute mark: I talk about the much-hyped Justin Fields vs. Adam Anderson high school football matchup that resulted in a 33-21 win for Rome against Fields’ Harrison team. I’ll explain why Anderson added to his accolades in victory, and why the loss does little to diminish Fields’ status as the country’s top player.

15-minute mark: DawgNation’s Chip Towers joins the show. Some of the topics covered include:

  • Chip’s thoughts on Eason
  • The chances UGA scores an easy win in the season opener vs. Appalachian State
  • The risk of looking ahead to next week’s showdown against Notre Dame
  • And the next career move for UGA alum Billy Payne, now that he’s resigned as chairman of Augusta National Golf Club

30-minute mark: I take a look at some other SEC headlines, including the gunshot wound to Alabama’s Raekwon Davis, the chances LSU’s season opener vs. BYU is moved from Houston in the aftermath of flooding from Tropical Storm Harvey, Tennessee linebacker Darrin Kirkland’s injury, and the SB Nation profile of Mississippi State linebacker Leo Lewis.

End of show: I update the Gator Hater Countdown.
