Georgia football podcast: Kirby Smart unhappy with OL questions

Beginning of the show: Kirby Smart bristled at questions the media posed about his offensive line on Tuesday. I’ll play audio of the exchange on the Wednesday show and discuss why it’s fair to wonder if that group is ready for SEC play.

10-minute mark: Smart also talked about what happens for UGA at quarterback when Jacob Eason returns from injury. Is UGA on the verge of a quarterback controversy? I’ll explain why Smart is taking a wise approach to the Eason-Fromm debate.

15-minute mark: SEC Country’s Mike Johnson joins the show. Some of the topics covered include:

  • Mike’s thoughts on UGA’s offensive line
  • What to expect from Mississippi State Saturday
  • Whether it’s fair to keep Fromm as UGA’s starter when Eason returns
  • Thoughts on recent criticism of the SEC
  • And opinions on Florida’s last-second win vs. Tennessee and whether that means Florida is a legitimate threat to UGA in the SEC East

30-minute mark: I take a look at some other SEC headlines, including USA Today’s Dan Wolken suggesting SEC teams recently have made bad coaching hires, Florida players downplaying their long winning streak vs. Kentucky, and CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd mentioning Dan Mullen as a candidate to leave Mississippi State.

35-minute mark: Former UGA quarterback David Greene joins the show to discuss UGA’s game vs. Mississippi State and to preview an autograph signing with former UGA linebacker Rennie Curran at Tailgate Apparel in Athens on Saturday from 2-4 p.m.

End of show: I update the Gator Hater Countdown.
