Georgia football podcast: One way Kirby Smart’s second season will be different from his first

Beginning of the show: Georgia coach Kirby Smart was asked a couple of times this week how he’s different this year compared to his first season, and Smart nostly deflected those questions. However while Smart does not want to talk much about how he’s changed, there is a crucial reason why his team probably will be different this fall than it was a year ago. I’ll talk about that to start the Friday show.

10-minute mark: Most coaches say championship teams require veteran players being willing to be vocal leaders. Georgia is no different, but who are those players for this team? Smart gave an indication this week, and I’ll share audio of what he had to say.

15-minute mark: DawgNation’s Jeff Sentell joins the show. Some of the topics covered include:

  • 4-star offensive lineman Trey Hill visiting Auburn instead of UGA this weekend
  • 4-star running back James Cook’s change of plans regarding his scheduled UGA visit
  • The likely list of visitors for UGA on Saturday, which includes 5-star offensive lineman Jamaree Salyer
  • 4-star defensive tackle Trevor Trout putting the Bulldogs in his top 6
  • And an update on 5-star quarterback Justin Fields

35-minute mark: I discuss some of the weekend’s biggest SEC games, including Alabama vs. Florida State, Michigan vs. Florida, LSU vs. BYU, and Texas A&M at UCLA on Sunday night.

End of show: I update the Gator Hater Countdown.
