Georgia football is the No. 1 topic every day on DawgNation Daily — the daily podcast for Georgia Bulldogs fans. Catch up on everything happening with UGA athletics with host Brandon Adams and the DawgNation experts as they break down the latest Georgia football recruiting news and discuss coach Kirby Smart’s quest to return the Bulldogs to the top of the SEC. On episode No. 1,299 (Oct. 12, 2020) of the podcast, Georgia fans can hear a discussion about why the significance of Alabama coach Nick Saban’s unbeaten record vs. former assistants is exaggerated by the media, and thoughts on what the Bulldogs proved in Saturday’s win vs. the Vols.

Georgia football podcast: Nick Saban’s unbeaten streak vs. former assistants is overblown

Beginning of the show: Alabama beat Ole Miss Saturday in an explosive offensive shootout. One of the subplots to the Crimson Tide’s victory over the Rebels was Alabama coach Nick Saban beating his former offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin, and running his record against former assistants to 21-0.

That stat will be relevant again this week when Saban takes on Georgia and Coach Kirby Smart — who narrowly missed out on a couple chances to beat his old boss, losing on the last play of the 2017 national championship game and letting a lead slip away near the end of the 2018 SEC championship game.

I’ll explain on today’s show, though, why the significance of Saban’s record against former assistants has been exaggerated.
