Georgia football podcast: UGA has big advantage over Oklahoma in key area

Beginning of the show: Georgia has far more former 4- and 5-star recruits on its roster than Oklahoma, according to a Rose Bowl preview published by ESPN. That gives UGA a big advantage in the game vs. the Sooners, and I’ll explain why on on the Thursday show.

Note: Here’s a link to the SB Nation article from Bud Elliott referenced at the beginning of the show.

10-minute mark: There is one aspect of Oklahoma’s defense that’s probably been misunderstood. I’ll share some stats that demonstrate the Sooners’ profile is different than it has been portrayed.

15-minute mark: DawgNation’s Seth Emerson joins the show. Some of the topics covered include:

  • The latest on UGA defensive back Latavious Brini’s arrest
  • Trent Thompson’s social media post indicating he plans to return for his senior season
  • A look at Bulldogs quarterback Jacob Eason’s future
  • And some surprising comments from Outland Trophy winner Ed Oliver about how Oklahoma matches up with UGA

30-minute mark: I take a look at some other SEC headlines, including 4-star quarterback Adrian Martinez flipping from Tennessee to Nebraska, Florida being at risk of losing 4-star quarterback Matt Corral, a tweet from 4-star quarterback Emory Jones that’s concerning to some Alabama fans, and LSU losing an assistant coach to BYU.

35-minute mark: I discuss 3-star linebacker Jaevon Becton’s de-commitment, and 3-star safety Aaron Brule’s decision to postpone his final college selection.

End of show: I update the Gator Hater Countdown.
