After hearing about Nick Chubb‘s injury in last Saturday’s UGA-Tennessee game, Todd Gurley decided to reach out to his former teammate, according to a recent story by ESPN’s Nick Wagoner.
If anyone understands how Chubb must be feeling, it is Gurley. A Heisman candidate entering last season, Gurley missed time due to suspension before suffering a knee injury in his return against Auburn.
Gurley’s absence allowed Chubb to emerge for UGA and began his 13-game streak of 100-yard rushing games — a streak that came to an end on the first play against Tennessee.
Now with the NFL’s St. Louis Rams, Gurley told Wagoner that he reached out to Chubb on Tuesday night.
“I talked to him last night,” Gurley said. “I just told him to just enjoy it. Even though he’s injured right now, nobody wants to be hurt but now he gets to focus on himself and not being able to play football so just enjoy this time and work hard because once football comes back up, it’s going to be a grind. It’s nothing he can’t get through.”
