Georgia got a good start on its final push for a spot in the College Football Playoff on Saturday, taking down rival Georgia Tech 38-7 in Atlanta.

The Bulldogs’ win plus the loss by former No. 2 Miami helped Georgia jump up one spot to No. 6 in the latest Amway Coaches Poll. Georgia will return to Atlanta on Saturday to take on Auburn, who rose to No. 4 after its defeat of top-ranked Alabama, in the SEC Championship Game.

The Crimson Tide dropped to No. 5 while LSU, which beat Texas A&M, climbed two spots to No. 16. Mississippi State, beaten by rival Ole Miss on Thursday, dropped seven spots to No. 24.
