One of the most memorable moments in recent Georgia recruiting history as been replicated a couple times over the past year, and the target of the trolling has been the Tennessee Vols each time.

That’s the subject of today’s DN90.

4-star linebacker Quay Walker became a high-profile addition to UGA’s 2018 recruiting class when he flipped from Alabama to the Bulldogs on National Signing Day.

Georgia coach Kirby Smart explained at the time that the competition for Walker had been a longterm priority for the UGA staff despite the fact Walker had been pledged to the Crimson Tide.

“It was a long recruiting battle. It was not overnight,” Smart said that February. “It was a situation where Quay has been a good player for a long time. A lot of the times when these guys commit early, all you do is become the target. And rarely when a kid de-commits — they’re not going to go back to that same place they just were at. You know? When you’re sitting there with Quay, we knew all along we were just as much in it as Alabama. We’re not deterred by the fact he’s committed to somebody… He’s in a community down there that’s near the University of Georgia that’s got a lot of University of Georgia fans so we did our job and kept being consistent with him.”

However, Walker’s decision to exit Alabama’s class wasn’t the thing that generated the most attention on signing day.

Walker famously toyed with putting on a Tennessee hat before slinging it to the side and revealing his UGA gear — which stood as the symbol of his college choice.

Most Dawg fans have been entertained by the replays of that video and the various internet memes it’s inspired. Those same fans might also enjoy knowing a couple other recruits have also recently given the Vols The Quay Walker Treatment.
