Michael “Mikey” Henderson has been indicted on three counts of sexual assault and one count of child molestation in connection with an admitted two-year sexual relationship with a female Parkview High School student.
Henderson told police he had a relationship with the girl beginning when she was a 16-year-old student in his geometry class. Henderson resigned from his position as a math and broadcasting teacher at Parkview after he was charged with sexual assault in May. The former Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver was also an assistant coach for Parkview’s football team.
Henderson asked the 16-year-old to send him photos of her breasts over Snapchat in February 2015, the indictment said. The student also performed oral sex on Henderson on school grounds on at least three occasions, according to the indictment.
Emails between Henderson and the student revealed that Henderson promised he would have sexual intercourse with the student after she graduated, a Gwinnett County police officer testified in a June hearing.
Henderson was released on bond in June, after multiple Parkview teachers and coaches came to a preliminary hearing intending to defend him.
Henderson is one of four Gwinnett County teachers charged with sexually assaulting students in May. Derren Evans, a long-term substitute teacher at Providence Christian Academy, was accused of repeatedly groping and forcibly kissing a student who he also asked to send nude photos over Snapchat. Ronnie Jackson, a coach and physical education teacher at Meadowcreek High School, was charged with sexual assault after allegedly molesting a female athlete while purporting to help her stretch an injured groin muscle. Villie Jones was indicted on 21 charges of sexual assault and child molestation; he’s been accused of assaulting four female band students while he was band director at South Gwinnett High School. All four passed background checks before they were hired.
