The Atlanta Falcons haven’t shown a propensity to sign or draft Georgia Bulldogs. The last Bulldog drafted by the franchise came back in 2011, when the Falcons took Akeem Dent in the third round of the draft.

But the Falcons signed former Georgia running back Todd Gurley earlier this offseason. And on Sunday it added another Bulldog to the roster, as former Georgia punter Cameron Nizialek signed as a member of the team’s practice squad.

Nizialek served as Georgia’s punter on the 2017 Georgia team, as he came to the program as a graduate transfer from Columbia University. In his one year with the Bulldogs, he averaged 45 yards per punt, including a career-long of 61 yards in the Rose Bowl against Oklahoma. Of his 61 punts in 2017, 26 were downed inside the 20-yard line.

Nizialek also served as the punter for the Atlanta Legends in the now-defunct Alliance of American Football in 2019.

Both specialists from Georgia’s 2017 team are now on NFL rosters, as kicker Rodrigo Blankenship made the Colts roster on Saturday. Blankenship will now be the Colts’ starting kicker and will replace NFL legend Adam Vinatieri.

Among other notable Bulldogs to make rosters include quarterback Jake Fromm and linebacker Tae Crowder.
