Neither J.R. Reed nor D’Andre Swift were named to the Associated Press’ All-SEC team on Monday. But the two Georgia standouts did find themselves on the All-SEC Coaches’ First Team, which was released on Tuesday.

Reed and Swift were also joined by offensive tackle Andrew Thomas and kicker Rodrigo Blankenship, who did make the First Team for the AP team.

The Bulldogs put just one member on the Coaches’ Second Team, as Tyler Clark took home the honor. Isaiah Wilson, Monty Rice, Eric Stokes and Trey Hill were all named to the Second Team by the AP, along with Swift.

Reed was a finalist for the Bronko Nagurski Award, which is given to the nation’s top defensive player and the Jim Thrope Award, which is given to the best defensive back in the country. Reed had 54 tackles, one interception and one fumble return, which was returned for a touchdown. In addition to helping in pass defense, he was also part of Georgia’s stout run defense, which finished third in the country in rushing yards allowed per game.

Swift meanwhile had a career-best 1216 rushing yards this season to go along with 7 touchdowns. He was one of the few bright spots on an offense that struggled for most of the season. Swift was limited in the SEC championship game loss to LSU due to a shoulder injury. Swift is likely to be one of the first running backs taken in the upcoming NFL draft, should he declare.

Thomas had an outstanding season for the Bulldogs, as he was one of the top tackles in the country. He is also expected to be the first offensive tackle taken in the 2020 NFL Draft should he decide to leave Georgia early.

Blankenship capped a stellar career by making 25 of his 31 field goal attempts this season. He is a finalist for the Lou Groza Award, which is given to the nation’s top kicker.

The Bulldogs will conclude the 2019 season on Jan. 1, when they take on the Baylor Bears in the Sugar Bowl.
