8:00 p.m. Jan. 19 update: Georgia did get some good news on Thursday as Jake Rowe of DawgsHQ reported that defensive end Tramel Walthour will return for his final year of eligibility.

Walthour played in all 15 games this past season, starting 13 for the Bulldogs. He served as a rotational piece on the defensive line, finishing the season with 23 tackles and 1.0 sack. He’ll team with freshman Mykel Williams to man the edge for Georgia. The Bulldogs will be young at the outside linebacker position, with Nolan Smith and Robert Beal both moving on to the NFL. Georgia did sign three outside linebackers in the 2023 recruiting cycle to address the issue.

Walthour signed as a member of the 2019 recruiting class. He is the lone super senior on Georgia’s team next season, taking advantage of the NCAA’s extra year of eligibility granted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Bulldogs also saw one of their former players find a new home, with Arik Gilbert committing to Nebraska. He becomes the second Bulldog to commit to Nebraska from the transfer portal, as MJ Sherman did so earlier this week.

Four of the 10 Georgia players to enter the transfer portal have found new homes to this point. The window officially closed on Wednesday but players in the portal can still communicate with schools and find new homes.

11:00 a.m. Jan. 19 update: It was reported earlier this week that Todd Monken was expected to draw interest from some NFL openings. And one of his former stops has emerged as a possible landing spot.
