Some media campaigning for Georgia to make CFB Playoff after nearly upsetting Alabama
Georgia football dropped an agonizingly close game to Alabama at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the second time in a calendar year.
And both times, they blew a double-digit second-half lead.
However, the Bulldogs might be able to find some solace in this second loss.
Georgia may have played well enough against No. 1-ranked Alabama to remain in the field for the College Football Playoff. Coming into the day, media pundits abounded who said that even with a second loss, the Bulldogs would have a shot at the fourth and final spot.
Well, Georgia didn’t trail Alabama until there was 1:04 left in regulation. The Bulldogs lost by one score, 35-28. That would qualify as a close loss, especially when considering the spread was 13 1/2 points prior to kickoff.
On Saturday night, many members of the media took to Twitter to express the feeling that the Bulldogs should become the first two-loss team to make the playoff.

Man will the committee be put to the test now. Their charge is to get the four best teams. Hard to argue Georgia isn’t one of them. Interested to hear you guys thoughts?

SEC lobbying for both Georgia and Alabama to make the playoff. And… it's a fair point. If you thought Alabama was No. 1 and Georgia was No. 4 before this game, why would anything that just happened change that assessment?

Georgia is one of the best four teams in the country. Whether the committee puts them in, thats the question.

Alabama and Georgia are the only two teams with two wins away from home vs current CFP Top 15 teams.

There will be a major sigh of relief from the other 3 playoff teams when the @CFBPlayoff committee selects Oklahoma over Georgia tomorrow.

#OU people know Georgia is better. Kyler has saved em time and again. Amazing player and Lincoln is a great offensive coach, but they aren’t better than Georgia or Ohio State…
— Doug Gottlieb (@GottliebShow) December 2, 2018
Georgia is better than Oklahoma and Ohio State and should be the fourth playoff team and it’s not close.

Let me be 100 % clear… I just watched Georgia play in person. They are big, fast, athletic and physical. I don’t care they have 2 losses! I know EXACTLY what I saw! They are undoubtedly one of the BEST 4 teams in the country! Coaches on committee SHOULD surely see this!#SEC

Honestly… Georgia is the 3rd best team in the country right now. You could make an argument they’re 2 and on the right night 1
