Em-azing! 5-star RB John Emery Jr.’s commitment highlights big recruiting Sunday for Georgia
Commit to the “G”reat recruiting vibes.
Embrace the “G”enerous headlines.
Love these “G”iant wins.
It good to be a Dawgs fans these days. Not long ago, there was former 5-star wide receiver Demetris Robertson announcing his transfer to Georgia. Then 5-star defensive tackle Travon Walker committed to the Bulldogs last Tuesday. On Sunday, 5-star running back John Emery Jr.’s commitment headlined a major recruiting night that also included pledges from NFL legacy Makiya Tongue, a talented Class of 2019 linebacker, and Rian Davis, the nation’s No. 5 linebacker for the 2019 class.
The 2018 season is more than a month away, but Georgia will enter its opener against Austin Peay on Sept. 1 with multiple victories this summer that could be recalled as pivotal moments in years to come. For Bulldogs fans who track the program’s future, this has been a jubilant July.
The best part? We don’t know how huge these recruiting victories truly are.
The promise is tantalizing to consider. Of course, Emery’s commitment comes with a special brand of excitement. The Destrehan, La., running back is the nation’s No. 2 prospect at his position and the No. 31 prospect overall for 2019. The hype is deserved.
Check out how DawgNation’s Jeff Sentell describes Emery’s skill:
The weekend was all about the reveal of the new UGA west end zone expansion, locker room and recruiting lounge. But the decision made by Emery might be the one that resonates with DawgNation.
He’s that kind of back. The operative word to describe his skill set would be smooth. He glides.
“Smooth” would be a great way to label Georgia’s recent recruiting efforts, too.
Committing to the “G” is in vogue, and it feels dang good for Dawgs fans riding the wave.
Georgia rises in 247Sports rankings
Not surprisingly, Georgia’s stellar Sunday meant big things for the Bulldogs in 247Sports’ team composite recruiting rankings.
Georgia rose to No. 2 for the 2019 rankings. Alabama is first. Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Oregon round out the top 5.
After Sunday, Georgia has commitments from five 5-star players. It’s hard to see the Bulldogs’ recruiting momentum slowing soon, so look for more victories on the trail to happen in short order.
Obviously, follow DawgNation and Sentell for all the latest developments.
Remembering early Dawgs memories
DawgNation’s Bill King had a cool story Sunday about recalling early Georgia memories.
If you haven’t checked out the piece, give it a read. It makes you think about the roots of our fandom and what makes us tick as fans.
So, which is your favorite earliest memory as a Georgia fan?
With all the momentum the program has gained lately, it’s fun to think about the moments that will be created soon and remembered for decades to come. The best chapters of the Kirby Smart era at Georgia could be on the horizon.
