Roquan Smith’s Thanksgiving Day performance looked like something you might have seen during his junior year at Georgia.

The middle linebacker was all over the field as he racked up a career-best 15 tackles for the Bears in their 24-20 win over the Detroit Lions. He also added 2.0 sacks for the Bears in a win.

“His instincts are really good,” Chicago Bears coach Matt Nagy said of Smith. “He had the one where he’s, effort-wise, he’s going to hit the guy and tackle and wrap up and he kinda trips and his momentum takes him and he throws him down and gets the flag. Two plays later, comes back and makes a great play on a double-a blitz. That’s a huge play in the game right there, to move them back, field position-wise. You can just see that he really seems like his confidence is there, his instincts are there and he’s playing fast.”

Another Chicago Bear had his best day as an NFL player as well in the win over the Lions, as wide receiver Javon Wims caught 5 passes for 56 yards, the highest in his NFL career.

For the Jacksonville Jaguars, Chris Conley posted similar numbers as he caught 4 passes for 57 yards. But the Jaguars were unable to defeat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. dropping their record to 4-8 on the season.

At the running back position, Todd Gurley of the Los Angeles Rams had by far the best week as racked up 95 rushing yards and a touchdown in the Rams 34-7 win over the Cardinals. Los Angeles is now just a game back of Minnesota in the wild card chase and has a big game looming with the Seattle Seahawks.

Nick Chubb rushed for only 58 yards in the Cleveland Browns’ loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but the second-year running back did surpass Chrisitan McCaffrey for the NFL’s rushing yard total.

Sony Michel finished with just 45 yards on 10 carries in New England’s 28-22 loss to the Houston Texans.

On the defensive side of the ball, Shawn Williams and Geno Atkins of the Cincinnati Bengals helped hold the New York Jets to 6 points as Cincinnati won its first game of the season with a 22-6 score. Atkins had 4 tackles in the game while Williams had 3.

Justin Houston of the Indianapolis Colts created another havoc play, as he had a tackle for loss and a fumble recovery. But it was not enough as the Colts lost 31-17 to the Tennessee Titans.

As for our Top Dawg of the Week — our honor which goes to the former Bulldogs who had the best week in the NFL — it has to be Smith. He showed everyone why he was the top linebacker taken in the 2018 NFL Draft and reminded many of the force he was at the University of Georgia.
