LOOK: Rose Bowl installs plaque at Court of Champions to mark Georgia’s memorable victory
The Rose Bowl made a significant move to mark Georgia’s victory against Oklahoma that fans can enjoy for years.
On Tuesday, the Rose Bowl’s Twitter account published a photo of the game’s 2018 plaque installed at the Rose Bowl Stadium’s Court of Champions. It marks the Bulldogs’ marvelous-and-memorable 54-48 triumph in January in Pasadena, Calif., a result that allowed Georgia to appear in the National Championship Game against Alabama.
As you can see in the picture below, the game’s offensive and defensive MVPs are featured on the plaque. The names of Georgia coach Kirby Smart and Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley appear on the item as well.
Cemented in history, indeed.

So cool.
You can bet Georgia fans will remember that victory and the Bulldogs’ 13-2 season for generations to come. Unfortunately, the National Championship Game didn’t provide a happy memory for Georgia fans. But it will be hard to top the euphoria experienced after running back Sony Michel raced 27 yards for the game-winning touchdown to end the double-overtime thriller at the Rose Bowl.
For Georgia fans, that day offered so many wild swings of emotion. But with a plaque as proof, victory tasted extra sweet because of how the result was earned.
