The Georgia football team picked up a 63-17 win over Murray State on Saturday. And a number of Georgia football fans were buzzing about some of the many highlights on social media.

The most talked-about player on Saturday was freshman wide receiver George Pickens. He had a one-handed catch, a diving catch and a touchdown catch. He ended up leading Georgia in receiving as his four catches and 78 yards was a team-high on Saturday.

When Georgia coach Kirby Smart was asked about Pickens after the game though, what the Georgia head coach the most was actually his blocking effort.

“He’s starting to become an overall player,” Smart said. “Probably the most impressive thing he did today was a block on D’Andre Swift’s long run. He did a great job of going down and digging the safety out which sprung Swift.  When you can do that to me as a freshman, that’s more impressive to me than diving and catching a ball.”

It was also a big day for Georgia fans who were waiting to see redshirt freshman Zamir White make his home debut. After missing the entire 2018 season with an ACL injury, White scored his first career touchdown on Saturday while also leading Georgia in rushing with his 8 carries going for 72 yards.

When White first stepped on the field, he was met with a loud number of Zeeeeeeuuuusss cheers, which is probably going to be the case for the rest of the season. White is easily one of the most popular players on the team.

“Amazing, I was glad to see him get his first touchdown, he was happy, we were all happy for the young man,” running back D’Andre Swift said of White. “I told him that’s one of many. He was like, ‘I scored!” I said, ‘I told you that you were going to score, there’s many more to come.’”

With the Murray State win also being the first game of the season in Sanford Stadium, many Georgia fans were ecstatic to be back in the friendly confines and cheer on the Bulldogs.

Following the win, a number of Georgia players also took to social media to thank all those that came out to the team’s first home game of the season.

The Bulldogs return to Sanford Stadium next Saturday, as Georgia hosts the Arkansas State Red Wolves. The game is scheduled for a 12 p.m. kickoff and will air on either ESPN or ESPN2.
