The best social media reactions from Georgia’s SEC East-clinching win over Kentucky
For the second week in-a-row, Georgia took down the No. 9 team in the country. And Saturday’s 34-17 win over Kentucky means that for the second-straight year, the Bulldogs are SEC East champs.
So naturally plenty of Georgia fans and players had something to celebrate. And they certainly did on social media, whether it be Kirby Smart’s post-game celebration or some talk about Kentucky’s star running back Benny Snell.
Below are just some of the best reactions from Georgia fans after Saturday’s win.

Georgia came out on top thanks to a stellar rushing effort on Saturday, as both D’Andre Swift and Elijah Holyfield rushed for over 100 yards. Coming into the game, Kentucky had the No. 1 scoring defense in the country, giving up an average of 13.0 points per game. Georgia put 34 points on them, and that’s with two turnovers in Kentucky’s territory.

As for the defensive side of the ball, Georgia held Kentucky running back Benny Snell in check as he finished the game with just 73 yards on 20 carries. Snell was the SEC’s leading rusher coming into the game. Both of Kentucky’s touchdowns came after Georgia had run out to a 28-3 lead midway through the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs also finished with a season-high 4.0 sacks.
Georgia returns to Sanford Stadium next week to take on the Auburn Tigers. Auburn pulled off a come-from-behind victory over Texas A&M on Saturday. Auburn has not beaten Georgia in Athens since the 2005 season. The two teams split their meetings last year, with Auburn winning the regular season contest, and Georgia beating the Tigers in the 2017 SEC Championship game.
Georgia’s opponent for the 2018 SEC Championship game also clinched their spot in the game, as Alabama beat LSU 29-0 to win the SEC West. This will be the first two times that these two teams have met in the SEC Championship game since 2012, which Alabama won 32-28. These two teams also met for the national title last season, in Atlanta, with the Crimson Tide winning 26-23 in overtime. Georgia has not beaten Alabama since 2007.
