DawgNation has four staffers who cover Georgia football from every angle: Beat, live streams, photos, podcasts, recruiting, etc. The “Cover 4” concept is: 1) Present a topic; 2) Offer a reasoned response; 3) Share a brisk statement on that opinion. 4) Pepper the page with photos for the big picture. For this edition, we discuss which former Georgia Bulldog found the best NFL home after this year’s draft.
DawgNation continues with the “Cover 4” concept. The focus is always a timely look with each of our guys manning the secondary on a pertinent topic.
The NFL Draft concluded its three-day virtual selection process this weekend. It means that Georgia placed seven draft picks and a host of undrafted free agents into the NFL. Which one had the best fit in with their new professional team?
We asked our Cover 4 panel to share their thoughts on that topic thread.
The quick in-and-out game remains. Cover 4 is designed to come out as quick as everyone is trying to maintain their social distancing these days.
Which former Georgia Bulldog found the best new home in the NFL?
Brandon Adams: D’Andre Swift
The “why” from “DawgNation Daily” here: “Swift wasn’t a first-round pick, but he’ll have plenty of opportunity with the Lions. Detroit needs help at running back, and the city will love him when he succeeds.”
Mike Griffith: Solomon Kindley
The “why” from “On the Beat” here: “Kindley goes back to his home state as part of a rebuilding O-Line, one of three Miami line draftees. Tropical weather provides ideal conditioning circumstances for a big man looking to stay at his trim combine weight of 336.“
Connor Riley: Isaiah Wilson
The “why” from “Good Day UGA” here: “No player went to a spot that better fits their style of play than Wilson. The Titans are all the things Wilson is – physical, big and nasty – and he’ll be able to slide in easily at the vacancy at right tackle (though I did come very close to saying Rodrigo Blankenship here as well).“
Jeff Sentell: Andrew Thomas
The Intel here: “While I expect to see Swift do a lot of motoring around in Detroit, the obvious answer fits best here. The highest Bulldog selection in the draft is also the most NFL-ready. Thomas will plug right away into a system at either left or right tackle and won’t have to strain his eyes to see a long 10-year NFL career on the horizon. He’s drafted that high to start and he’ll have talented offensive players around him in the biggest media market in the NFL.”
