Georgia Governor Nathan Deal is all in on the Bulldogs’ chase for a national championship.
Deal tweeted out a variety of pictures of support for the Georgia football team on Thursday as the Bulldogs continue preparations for the College Football Playoff National Championship Game against Alabama on Monday night.
The Georgia State Capitol is fully decked out with the famous Power G logo.
And the governor took his support from Twitter to official business, officially signing a proclamation on Thursday afternoon in order to make tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 5 “UGA Football Friday,” during which the Bulldog Nation is encouraged to rep the red and black all day. (Although we know you’ve been rocking your Georgia gear since the clock struck 2018).
Deal also does a great job making use of Georgia’s mantras that have become famous around the team this season. Our only question is that if Georgia wins the game, will Deal sign another proclamation cancelling work and school for the whole state on Tuesday?
And Deal isn’t the only Georgia public official getting into the Bulldogs spirit. Athens mayor Nancy Denson is prepared to give the team the key to the city following the title game.
It is a little curious that a determination has already been made to not give the team a parade should it win, but if the Bulldogs hoist the trophy, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a reversal of plans.
In the all-SEC title game, the Rose Bowl champion Bulldogs will take on the Sugar Bowl champion Alabama Crimson Tide at 8 p.m. on Monday night from Atlanta’s new Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
