ATHENS — Georgia outside linebacker Brenton Cox Jr. took to social media less than two hours after posting bond on misdemeanor marijuana possession charges on Tuesday.
Cox, a 5-star prospect out of Stockbridge, Ga., who was running first team this spring, said “some of us are facing hard obstacles in life that other people are making even harder.”

Cox was arrested along with teammate Robert Beal at 3:13 p.m. on Tuesday, shortly before the start of the Bulldogs’ spring practice No. 7.
The pair was arrested by the UGA Police Department at 3:13 p.m. with less than one ounce of marijuana, according to the Athens-Clarke County jail booking recap report.
Beal and Cox each posted $1,000 bond and were released. Cox posted bond at 4:08 p.m on Tuesday.
A 2018 Under Armour All-American, Cox was named to the 2017 All-State Class 5A First Team defense by the AJC and the Associated Press.
Cox was an ESPN.com five-star prospect, #11 in the ESPN 300, #8 overall prospect in the Southeast, #5 ranked DE nationally, #3 overall prospect in Georgia..
