ATHENS — Georgia will be getting one defensive line starter back from injury on Saturday. Whether it will get another one continues to look iffy.
Trent Thompson, the sophomore and defensive tackle, was practicing a second straight day in a regular white jersey. So he appears on track to play against Auburn, after leaving the Kentucky game in the first half with a hip injury.
But DaQuan Hawkins Muckle, who missed the Kentucky game with a sprained ankle, was in a walking boot on Tuesday. The sophomore was on an exercise bike during practice.
More injury and other notes:
- Starting inside linebacker Natrez Patrick (shoulder) remains in a black non-contact jersey, but he was participating.
- The same goes for senior receiver-kickoff returner Reggie Davis (shoulder).
- Johnny O’Neal, a junior who has rarely played, was getting a lot of second-team reps during Tuesday’s practice. During the Kentucky game it was Reggie Carter and Juwan Taylor on second team – and playing near the end as Kentucky was driving – but on Tuesday O’Neal was getting a look.
- Former Georgia punter Drew Butler was in attendance at practice.
