ATHENS – Georgia’s situation at quarterback, at least what the media could see on Tuesday, was the same as it was on Monday.

Greyson Lambert was first in order during a passing drill, with Jacob Eason second. It was just passing against air, so take it for what you will. Each time offensive coordinator Jim Chaney changed the play to run, Lambert went in first, then Eason went second.

The media only saw two periods. It was the same quarterback order in Monday’s practice, during the same drill. Last week it had usually been Eason running first in similar drills.

Head coach Kirby Smart is due to address the media after practice. He didn’t indicate Monday that a quarterback decision or announcement was imminent. Over the weekend, all signs were pointing to Eason winning the job, but Smart declined to name a starter on Monday.

A few other notes from practice:

  • Tyler Catalina continues to run first-team left tackle, as he has for some time. Isaiah Wynn then slides to left guard, while Lamont Gaillard continues to be the first-team right guard, with Dyshon Sims actually running second-team left guard. That’s interesting because Gaillard and Sims have been thought to be in competition for the right guard spot.
  • Tailback Elijah Holyfield continues to take an active role in practice, running ahead of Sony Michel in one drill, then behind him in another but ahead of Brendan Douglas. The only constant is Nick Chubb being first in each drill. Michel is still in a black jersey and as of the latest update from Smart had yet to be cleared.
  • The order at tight end during one drill: Jeb Blazevich, Jackson Harris, Isaac Nauta and then others.
