ATHENS, Ga. — It was delirium. For just about a minute.
Georgia’s commitments and elite recruiting targets celebrated like their team pulled off something they will never forget after Jacob Eason hit Riley Ridley for a 47-yard touchdown and an eventual 31-28 lead.
It would not last the final 10 seconds of game clock.
The Bulldogs fell 34-31 after Tennessee quarterback Josh Dobbs hit Jauan Jennings on a counter-strike 43-yard touchdown pass as time expired.
Check out the video above to see just how electric that moment was for those Georgia recruits inside Sanford Stadium.
That’s the good. The joy on the faces of those big targets might be a key to the way they are leaning. Their answers in interview sessions sometimes can be guarded, but they couldn’t hide their joy inside Sanford Stadium on Saturday night.
It is also worth taking note of how Georgia’s commitments reacted to that big play. Their faces seem to reinforce the notion that some of them already bleed red and black.
The Volunteers still had time to author one of the most stunning defeats in Georgia history.
How did those recruits react to the wild late turn of events? DawgNation was able to gather several responses.
2018 undecided 5-star DB Derrik Allen: “Tough loss. .. Crazy crazy game but UGA fought hard.”
2017 undecided 4-star LB Kenney “KJ” Britt: “A crazy game but UGA should have won.”
2017 QB commit Jake Fromm: “Completely controlled the football game. But need to work on finishing and staying disciplined.”
2017 undecided 4-star LB Nate McBride: “Great game. No words can describe.”
2017 CB commit William Poole III: “I’m hurt. Feels like I was out there on the field myself. Every year I play Tennessee I’ll remember that exact moment.”
