ATHENS — It’s what happens when a program hires quality-control staffers: They come in, do their job, and leave soon after.

Kevin Beard, a former Miami receiver who assisted with Georgia’s offense this year, is reportedly leaving for an on-field role at Florida International.

Beard was hired earlier this year in a quality control role for Georgia’s offense. He had been receivers coach for Miami under offensive coordinator James Coley. When Coley joined Kirby Smart as receivers coach, he brought in Beard.

Georgia was paying Beard $63,000, according to clerical records, and he was one of six people who had the title of quality control for offense.

The Palm Beach Post is among those who have confirmed that Beard has been hired as Florida International’s receivers coach.
