ATHENS — Andrew Thomas’ football talents have put him on the verge of making millions of dollars, via the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft where he’s a considered a sure-fire first round pick.

But the former Georgia offensive tackle showcased his musical abilities with a short clip of him playing the piano, a skill he brushed up on while training for the NFL combine.

Thomas’ girlfriend, Ashley-Ann Wynter, is performing the vocal.

“I grew up in the church, and all of my family either sang or played an instrument,” Thomas explained. “I was in the band all throughout high school. My dad played the drums, so he taught me how to play the drums when I was young.”

Thomas, who can play left tackle, right tackle or offensive guard, has been projected as high as the No. 6 overall pick in the draft, which starts on Thursday.

As for the piano, it’s likely to follow Thomas wherever he goes, as it proved an effective way for him to unwind.

“I had a piano at the house, I actually got one when I was training in Pensacola,” Thomas said. “Every time I have a little free time, I try to get on there and play a little bit.”

Thomas explained how music has always been a part of his life.

“I was growing up in the church playing the drums, and my freshman year in high school I was still in the band enjoying everything,” Thomas said. “My head coach told me I had a chance to write my own ticket playing football, and obviously, I loved the game.

“But music was still something important to me, and he told me I’ve got to put my focus on football, and that’s what I did, but I still love music.”

NFL teams, Thomas explained, take an interest in what motivates and interests players off the football field.

“Some teams just want to know about your background,” Thomas told DawgNation last week, “and what you do outside of football.”

Thomas arrived at Georgia and started as a true freshman on the Bulldogs’ SEC Championship team, earning FWAA Freshman All-American honors along with quarterback Jake Fromm.

The two remain friends and recently did a Zoom chat with the DawgNation team that can be seen below.
