It’s official: Elijah Holyfield signs with UGA
ATHENS — Georgia has officially added the tailback with the famous last name.
Elijah Holyfield sent in his letter-of-intent on Wednesday morning, Georgia announced. He is the son of boxing great Evander Holyfield.
A four-star prospect, Elijah Holyfield is rated as the nation’s No. 165 overall prospect, but the sixth-best tailback, and the No. 17 overall prospect in the state of Georgia.
He played at Woodward Academy in Atlanta, committing to Georgia last September.
It’s likely that Holyfield will get a chance to crack the tailback rotation right away. While Georgia returns four scholarship tailbacks, Nick Chubb’s health status is murky. The other returners are Sony Michel, who finished over 1,000 yards this year, Brendan Douglas (140 rushing yards last season), and A.J. Turman, who has yet to get a carry in a game.
