Jake Fromm, who was never really known for his running ability as UGA’s quarterback, is ready to impress the NFL scouts with his speed.

In an interview with the NFL Network, Fromm was asked to predict his 40-yard dash time. Surprisingly, Fromm gave a very direct answer:

“We’re going to get a 4.9,” Fromm said. “We’re shooting for a 4.8. A 4.89 is still the same as a 4.80. It’s a 4.8. That’s all you need.”

At last year’s NFL combine, a time of 4.9 seconds in the 40-yard dash would’ve been good enough for the No. 11 among all the invited quarterbacks.

Here were some of the 40 times of other UGA players at last year’s combine: tight end Isaac Nauta at 4.92, running back Elijah Holyfield at 4.78, receiver Terry Godwin at 4.55, Riley Ridley at 4.61, and Mecole Hardman at 4.34.

It has been a good week from Fromm, who has kept a low profile over the past month after deciding to forgo his senior season at UGA. Fromm has been training in Alabama, and did media rounds at the Super Bowl a few days ago.

Walter Football’s Mock Draft projected Fromm to be drafted late in the first round by the New England Patriots.
