The Kansas City Chiefs have released former Georgia QB Aaron Murray, according to ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio.
Florio reported that the Chiefs had tried to trade Murray, but they were unable to find a trade partner. Murray’s fate was “likely sealed” when Kansas City signed Nick Foles, whom head coach Andy Reid drafted when he was Philadelphia.
Murray must clear waivers before he can become an unrestricted free agent. There are quarterback-needy teams that may seek to claim him, like Dallas, Minnesota and Cleveland.
Kansas City selected Murray in the fifth round of the 2014 draft.
