Internet reacts to Kirby Smart’s Nick Saban-esque Coke bottle at press conference
As Georgia coach Kirby Smart stepped to the podium on Monday before his team’s game against Austin Peay, he had a noticeable addition to his podium.
Sitting next to Smart was a Coke bottle, something that has been a staple at Nick Saban press conferences over the years. Given that Smart used to work for Saban, the internet couldn’t wait to tee up some jokes given the reference.

Smart was asked about the Coke bottle and he had a good chuckle about it when he gave his answer.
“I appreciate all Coke does a lot for us.I just noticed that when I got in here and I’m sure y’all have already tweeted about it already,” Smart said about the Coke bottle.
Smart does seem to know the media pretty well at this point. The bottle was not opened during the press conference for those wondering.
In non-coke related news, Georgia opens against Austin Peay this week. Some other highlights from the press conference include that wide receiver Terry Godwin is questionable, discipline regarding Natrez Patrick and Deangelo Gibbs will be handled internally. Smart did not name a starting quarterback but he reiterated that sophomore Jake Fromm has mostly been working with the first team.
The Georgia-Austin Peay game will kickoff at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday and will be broadcast on ESPN. The Dawgwalk is set for 1:15 p.m. ET.
