Kirby Smart considers Jake Fromm’s presence to be good for Jacob Eason.
The Georgia coach spoke on The Paul Finebaum Show on SEC Network and had interesting comments to share about the Bulldogs’ quarterback situation. Eason is the favorite to be Georgia’s starting quarterback after throwing for 2,430 yards with 16 touchdowns and 8 interceptions as a freshman last season.
But Smart considers the presence of Fromm, a freshman quarterback, to be a quality development for Eason. Here’s what Smart told Finebaum about Eason:
“I think he has developed his leadership skills over the offseason. He’s got a lot more confidence in some of the decisions and throws he gets to make, and he has also got a little competition going as well this spring with a young man by the name of Jake Fromm. So that part has helped as well. I think it has been good to have Jake in meetings, and (Eason) realizes that, ‘Hey, this kid is coming up on my tail pretty quick.'”
Smart went on to praise Eason, saying the quarterback has great velocity on this throws and owns ample confidence in the system to make plays.
It will be interesting to see the quarterback situation develop at Georgia. More will be expected of Eason as spring drills continue and as season preparations begin later this summer. You can see where Smart is pleased to have Fromm on campus to push Eason.
