Georgia is one win away from its first national championship after beating Oklahoma 54-48 in the Rose Bowl on Monday.

The Bulldogs will play in the championship game on Jan. 8 in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Here are some of coach Kirby Smart’s thoughts:

On the win: “What a game. What an atmosphere. My heart goes out to the Oklahoma team, because they played their tail off. And so did ours. Nobody ever quit and everybody fought hard. I’m so proud of these kids. The seniors never quit. This is a great university and these kids fought their tail off.”

On the comeback: “These kids believed, they never stopped chopping wood, and they just kept the main thing the main thing.”

More on the comeback: “I think we got settled down some.  They did a really nice job. I have to give Baker Mayfield credit. He is one of the best players we have ever gone against. Our offense had our back and our special teams had our back. And we just kept chopping.”
