Georgia defeated Notre Dame 20-19 on Saturday night in South Bend, Ind., kicking the go-ahead field goal with 3:34 left in the game.

It was a defeat all too familiar to Brian Kelly and the Fighting Irish, who lost seven games in 2016 by 8 points or less.

In the post-game news conference, Kelly was asked if this season was going to go down the same path for the Irish, who finished 4-8 in 2016. CBS Sports’ Barrett Sallee posted the conversation between Kelly and a reporter on Twitter:

Kelly already was thought to be on the hot seat coming into the season. A close defeat to Georgia in a game in which the Fighting Irish were favored will not help get Notre Dame supporters off his back.
