Georgia may be donning some new uniforms with a classic twist ahead of the 2020 season.

The Georgia football Twitter account put out a video teasing new uniforms. One was with a black jersey with a dog collar near the neck.

The other was a white uniform with a red pant look, similar to the ones worn in Georgia’s past, including during the 1980 season, which was the last time Georgia won a national championship.

Georgia posted a video with regards to uniforms, highlighting the history of them.

Below you can see some of the images with the uniforms.

Georgia has worn black jerseys before, with the most recent example coming in Kirby Smart’s first season at Georgia in a game against Louisiana-Lafayette. Prior to that, the last time the uniforms had been worn came against Alabama in 2008, a game Georgia lost 41-30.

The black jerseys have been popular when it comes to recruits, as they have been often worn on visits.

The red pants, white uniforms also have some history with the program, as the video highlights. It was the same uniform the Bulldogs wore during Herschel Walker’s first game, where he famously ran over Tennessee linebacker Bill Bates.

Georgia has made no announcement as far as if these are the only two uniforms the Bulldogs will be wearing during the 2020 season.

Fans and media types weighed in on the uniforms, with it overwhelmingly positive. The black uniforms are controversial within the fan base given the infamous loss to Alabama.

But the road uniforms, which have a patch honoring the 1980 season, have been universally praised.

The first chance Georgia will get to potentially show off these uniforms will come against Arkansas on Sept. 26. Georgia’s first home game will be on Oct. 3 against Auburn, the team Georgia first wore the black uniforms against back in 2007.
