BATON ROUGE, LA. — Coach Ed Orgeron said Thursday night not to let the Tigers’ spread look fool you, it’s still LSU, and that means physical football.

Georgia coach Kirby Smart has been warning his Bulldogs all week that they’ll need to be prepared for a physical football game, and Orgeron explained why when questioned by DawgNation Thursday night.

“We’re different as far as the type of run, we run more of a spread set but we’re always going to be physical at LSU,  that’s in our DNA,” Orgeron said. “So that’s still the same thing, but it’s just not with a fullback in front of them.

“The rest of the stuff, zone, gap scheme, inside run, outside run, counters, powers, same things that we’ve run here for a long time.”

Indeed, and Orgeron indicated the Tigers will have their offensive line in the same positions for the first time this season.

“The guys are happy they are all staying in the same position, again there will be a huge challenge,” Orgeron said. “Just because it’s one week, that doesn’t mean they’ll be 100 percent, but hopefully we’ll be better than last week, because they weren’t very good at some points.”

Orgeron met with his local media and DawgNation for approximately 10 minutes following Thursday’s practice, which finished up inside the Tigers indoor practice facility across the street from Tiger Stadium.

The No. 2-ranked Georgia football program plays No. 13 LSU at 3:30 (Eastern) on Saturday.

Thousands of Bulldogs fans are traveling to New Orleans and Baton Rouge, excited about the rare cross-division matchup. It’s the first time Georgia has played at LSU since 2008.

Georgia coach Kirby Smart came out in favor of a nine game league schedule earlier this week, and Orgeron said he wouldn’t have a problem with that.

“If that happens, it would be fine,” whatever they put in front of us after the schedule we had this year, I’m ready for anything.
